The group arrived at 11:30 am today. After briefing, check in, lunch, and a quick tour of the lodge, the group started their first scheduled safari of the trip.
The group went to Wilpattu National Park and it was a beautiful start with sightings of the big three mammals in the park; Elephants, Sloth Bear, and Leopard! We returned to the lodge around 6.30pm and enjoyed a great dinner.
Today’s breakfast started at 6:30am. After we drove to Sigiriya World heritage site (5 century AD) 8 guests out of 13 went up to summit of the rock and rest of the clients enjoyed the base and surrounding gardens.
Today’s Lunch was held at the Elephant Corridor Hotel over the Sigiriya rock. After lunch, the group was taken on their second safari of the trip to
Kaudulla National Park; part of the Minneriya lake area to see Elephants. The group encountered three different herds and more than 70 wild Elephants, many young babies and some individual young bulls. We returned back to the lodge around 8pm.
Today’s breakfast was at 7am and then the group eagerly headed to Anuradhapura, the first 3 BC Century kingdom of Sri Lanka and a another world Heritage site. One guest asked to stay at the lodge, other 12 attended. After Anuradhapura we went on the groups 3rd safari back to Wilpattu National Park and had lunch inside the National Park. Lunch was attended by a large group of monkeys, which made for some fantastic photo opportunities and fun for all. Late afternoon, we had a fantastic Sloth Bear sighting, with the individual walking very close to the jeeps. We were extremely lucky to have this encounter. We returned back to the lodge at around 6.45pm for a fantastic dinner.
Today we start bit earlier. Had a breakfast at 5am so we could travel to the second kingdom of the country and another world Heritage site, Polonnaruwa. The guests enjoyed a tour of the Polonnaruwa site and encounters with the threedifferent types of monkeys that reside there. We briefly watched a Disney movie filmed at the site called "Monkey Kingdom" in the primate center and had lunch. We did some shopping at Sri Lanka markets on the way back to the lodge. Dinner was at 7:30 pm where the guests were treated to some local tree tapped liquor at the end of dinner.
Last day we let the guests sleep in and relax. Breakfast started at 8.30am. After breakfast guests enjoyed the lodges swimming pool and 7 acres of nature
